Wrap: Flyers Fall to Rangers, 3-2
A winnable game against the Metro Division leading New York Rangers slipped through the Flyers' fingers on Saturday night as they dropped a 3-2 decision at the Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers stumbled out of the gates early, but eventually got going in a game that went to the third period tied at 1-1. After the Flyers' briefly took a 2-1 lead, the Rangers struck for two unanswered goals.
The Flyers, who have not won since Dec. 29 in Seattle, are now winless in their last seven games (0-5-2).
Mika Zibanejad (power play, 14th goal of the season) blasted home the game's first goal less than six minutes into the first period. Oskar Lindblom (5th) answered back to tie the game on a rebound goal.
There was no scoring in the second period.
Closely spaced goals by the Flyers' Cam York (1st in the NHL) and New York's Filip Chytil (4th) canceled out midway through the third period. With 6:30 left, Chris Kreider (24th) deflected a go-ahead goal into the net after Carter Hart had his stick knocked away accidentally by Claude Giroux.
Hart took the loss. He stopped 24 of 27 shots. Igor Shesterkin denied 26 of 28 shots to earn the win.
The Flyers went 0-for-1 on the power play. They were 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.

Phantoms Point Streak Ends in 5-2 loss to W-B/S
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms suffered a 5-2 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the PPL Center on Saturday night. The defeat ended the Phantoms' point streak at nine straight games. The Phantoms, who were outshot 42-15 by the Penguins on Friday but managed a 4-3 victory, were outshot 13-3 in the first period, 14-6 in the second and 35-22 overall.
Starting goalie Felix Sandström kept the game close for roughly half the game. The Phantoms trailed only 1-0 as the game neared the midway point. Lehigh Valley's good fortune finally ran out as the Penguins broke the game open with goals by Sam Poulin (9:50), Felix Robert (10:33) and Nathan Legare (11:27), Now it was 4-0.
In the third period, the Phantoms cut the deficit in half on power play tallies by Connor Bunnaman (5th) and Wade Allison (1st). They drew no closer and Taylor Fedun notched an empty net goal with 1:16 left on the clock to seal a 5-2 final.
Sandström finished with 30 saves on 34 shots in a losing cause.
