Preds Back After 4-Day Break |

The Preds are back in action tonight at home against the St. Louis Blues after a 4-day break following their home loss against Philly last Saturday. A few changes occurred in the lineup in that game, but they were not the drastic ones that were needed as I proposed. I still think that my previous lineup thoughts would be appropriate, but for now the only power I have is behind a keyboard.
On a bright note, Coach Hynes has announced a bit of shuffling with what to expect with the top 6 tonight. Per Preds writer Emma Lingan, Granlund will be moved to the wing alongside Nino with Cody Glass getting his time to shine up the middle with these two. With Granlund being moved, this will result in Joey being reunited with Forsberg and Duchene. I'd prefer keeping Joey with Nino as this seems to be one of the few bright spots on this team offensively, but I respect the resolve of the coaching staff to finally do something. Something is better than nothing, but I hope there is more to it than just these small moves. Joey with Forsberg again is encouraging. However, these changes do not manifest in what each line, in my opinion, needs to have. It still spreads them too thin, whether lacking size, physicality, or otherwise.
I'm curious to see what else occurs in the lineup and also how the defense may be constructed. The Blues are a strong team and with the Capitals coming into town on Saturday prior to the Preds' trip out first, times are not getting easier as the Preds seek to overcome the depths of the valley that they find themselves in.
With their break, the team seems to have had the opportunity to reset and put together a string of hard practices. More analysis to follow after we see how they perform over the next two. These are massive games in front of the home crowd. A long roadtrip may be what's best for this team, but a strong showing at home wouldn't hurt, especially for the morale of management, team, and, fanbase.
