*It's now official, official in case you missed it. ;) - July 11, 2022.
Although not official official, numerous reports, including the Preds' social media accounts have confirmed that the Preds have re-signed Filip Forsberg to an eight-year, $8.5m contract.
It will be interesting to see the additional details of this deal.
Now that the Preds have locked this down, one can hope that David Poile and management have their eyes set on another target to add some more depth scoring. The defense is looking much stronger with the addition of Ryan McDonagh and another scorer would really help this team going forward. The one deal that still needs to get done is Yakov Trenin, as he is currently an RFA, but I see no issues with this being finalized.
Many are linking to an idea of an internal cap. I don't see that being the case this year. I think there are a few more moves up Poile's sleeve. There's about $9.6m left of cap space to work with (some of which will be used for Trenin and a few additional depth players to wrap up the lineup).
