"I will make it my mission this year, work 24h around the clock 2 get Jags to bring this puppy back! It's gonna happen," said Roberto Luongo via tweet on September 15th. The tweet was accompanied by this gem of a photo. Ah the memories...

Apparently it didn't take long for Jaromir Jagr to give in to the request to go all early 1990s on us.

The Miami Herald's George Richards reported Monday afternoon that Jagr agreed by saying "I have to." Apparently he was practically dared to do so by Luongo. As expected, Jagr didn't back down, and is a man of his word.

How ironic would it be for the Florida Panthers to make the playoffs this season with the same player and haircut that they eliminated from the playoffs in 1996? Sure there will definitely be more gray in it this go around for the creature on his head, but oh the fan fodder that is to come.

Many young people don't know the power, style, and elegance of a mullet. Especially one that goes full horizontal on NHL ice skating at full speed. Jagr is about to give a lesson in chic.

Jagr is already adored in South Florida for the veteran leadership he brings to the table and the immediate spark he provided to the team upon arrival via trade in February. Now there will be even more reason to be in awe of this enigma of a player.

You know you are famous when people get excited about bringing back a hair style, especially when you play a sport where you wear a helmet. But a mullet knows no constrictions. It follows no rules. It's its own entity. It will be great fun to watch it mature and take on a life of it's own.

As you can imagine, Luongo was elated with the news, only to tweet today, "Guys we did it!!!!"
