It was the Rem Pitlick show last night as the Wild forward scored his first National Hockey League goals last night, scoring the Wild's first three goals of the contest. Pitlick coverted a cross ice saucer pass from Ryan Hartman to open the scoring in the first period.
Pitlick was quick to qive all the credit to Hartman who first saw Pitlick heading for the front of the bet and then delivering the perfect pass which Pitlick put between the leaky Kraken netminder, Phillip Grubauer.
Pitlick's second goal came as a surprise to none other than Pitlick himself as he was at the end of his shift and as the Kraken cleared the puck out of their defensive zone, Pitlick motioned to the bench for his replacement and skated as hard as he could to make the change. Jared McCann mishandled the puck in the neutral zone and Hartman stole the puck and sprung the opportune Pitlick for the breakaway. Pitlock deked to his forehand and buried his second of the night putting the Wild up tow goals.
Pitlick completed the hattrick as Kraken Captain, Mark Giordano made an iladvised decision to skate thru the middle of the Wild zone and then dish a pass that Hartman intercepted with his skate, controlled the puck and got it to his stick to make the brilliant headman pass to spring Pitlick for his second breakaway of the period and the natural hattrick was complete.
Seattle mustered a better effort in the third but could not get closer than two goals down and the Wild finished the three game road trip with a 4-2 victory.
It was not a pretty effort for sure and one that saw Seattle gift wrap the Wild goals, but they did do a very solid job of shutting the Kraken down for the most part.
Hartman was the story of the game despite the three goals by Pitlick it was Hartman that created all three tallies and he did not stop there, as he made a critical defensive play when the pucknwas loose in the Wild crease and Cam Talbot down and out after making the initial save.
A win is a win and the two points are all the same in the standings.
Next up the Sharks on Tuesday at the XCEL Energy Center.
