Don't look now, but the Philadelphia Flyers are in the top ten of all NHL teams and only 7 points from the Vancouver Canucks who sit atop the league, Last night they won their fifth straight, for the second time this season, and the last two goals from Owen Tippet could be in the SEASON top ten goals when all is said and done...
Last night the Flyers handled the Stars 5-1. This followed a successful road trip which ended with Philly being the first Eastern Conference Team to beat the Winnipeg Jets in regulation this ENTIRE SEASON..Colorado is in Philly next. The Flyers defeated Colorado in Denver just a week ago..
So are they buyers?
When the season began the thought of this team being anything BUT deadline sellers was completely absurd.. While there are many factors determining how a team becomes a buyer or seller, the two biggest are:
1. Can we seriously make a run?
2. How much Cap Space do we have?
The top ten teams and cap space...
Team Cap Space
1. Vancouver $7.6M
2. Boston $4.6M
3. Winnipeg $5.2M
4. Colorado $1.6M 5. Florida $19.2
6. Rangers. $1.2M
7. Dallas. $0.83M
8. Vegas. $8.1M 9. Flyers. $23.1M
10. Carolina. $11.9M
So the Flyers and Florida are in very unique spots.
If the Flyers are buyers for a rental they have alot of money to make that happen....
