With the final few days before protected lists are submitted, there is a ton of potential over the next 48 hours for teams to do some maneuvering...and we are already seeing it...
On Brock Boeser...
I am hearing at least 8 teams have contacted Vancouver about Boeser, as they anticipate the salary issues the Canucks are up against... The Rangers, the Devils, Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Philly, and Florida (and quite possibly more) have made it known they would love to acquire the former all-star. The Canucks are listening, and according to two sources they are not shooting anything down when it comes to Boeser....I have heard they would much prefer moving Boeser to the East..
On Landeskog...
Another Captain in play? The Avalanche and Landeskog were expected to be a slam dunk for a new deal, but currently the team and player are "extremely far apart." The issue here is the Avalanche doesn't believe ANYONE will put that kind of money on the table in the current climate...so alot like Hamilton and Hyman, and possibly Danault in Montreal, we could see these players NOT signing before UFA day, while promising their current teams they will let them know if a better offer is put forth.. Does Colorado's low ball have anything to do with a possible Seth Jones signing?
On Danault...
Montreal NEEDS Phillip in a biog way, bit in this case I am not convinced the money won't be out there for Danault. I have heard the Penguins, Avalanche, Capitals, Knights, and Oilers ALL will line-up for Danault when the time is right. Many teams saw his playoff performances as a possible future Selke Winner...
On Hyman...
The Flames, Capitals, Kings, Knights, Senators, Sharks, Sabres and Oilers all have been at least discussing Hyman internally...One GM told me, "I think the general vibe around in regards to Zach is the Leafs WILL get it done...so it's hard to put too much energy in right now."
On Suter...
The Flyers are debating internally whether or not they would bring in Suter as a LD. Ideally they would like a RD...Ellis, Ristolainen, Larsson....It is also popssible the Flyers add two D-men...
