Reports today by Pierre LeBrun that the Flames were very much in on Taylor Hall....LeBrun speculated that this was the team that got in big and delayed a deal with Arizona.
As you know we wrote about the Flames and Hall a lot on here...and they are one of the teams I was hearing who were attempting to talk to Hall about an extension...This is very similar to Tavares in many ways, but most so in terms of the fact it appears Taylor Hall, who is from the Calgary area, wants to return home as Tavares did...
I am told this almost happened a few days ago, but will almost certainly happen in July when Hall becomes a UFA. My sources tell me NJ learned that Hall may actually be willing to extend with Calgary and this set off a series of events that almost led to Hall being dealt for a bigger package to Calgary...
At the end of the day, the Flames are betting they can land Hall for free in July, so they weren't willing to top Arizona's offer...
