Hearing that the Hurricanes are NOT yet taking offers on Martin Necas. The two sides want to make one final attempt to hammer out a long-term extension. If that is not successful, Carolina will shift gears and focus on maximizing the return for the player. Necas is arbitration-eligible this summer as a restricted-free agent and can become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

However, it does not sound as if the arbitration and UFA in 2025 route is the goal for either side. At least six to eight teams have interest in a trade-and-sign deal if Carolina cannot get an extension done.
