Dorion Fired In Ottawa; Backstrom “Stepping away”, Wed's Buzz

Breaking News: Ottawa has fired GM Pierre Dorion after the NHL penalized the Ottawa Senators a first-round pick for the Evgeni Dadonov no-trade clause ruling


Today Nicklas Backstrom made a statement with the Capitals through their Twitter stating that due to injuries he is stepping away from the game for the time being. He’s asked for privacy during this time and he’s going to take this to assess his next moves…

You’d be hard-pressed to find a nicer guy than Backstrom and I truly hope that he finds some solace in this. Many are aware how much this decision has been difficult for Nic.

Although it’s early, it’s hard to imagine this won’t affect Capitals player movement in the near future. This is a team built to win now and stacked with some older veterans. I don’t see them suddenly becoming sellers….I also don’t see them sitting still for very long at all…..
