Welcome to the Second Round...
When the season began I clearly stated that the last three teams standing in the playoffs from the Metro Division were Carolina, Columbus and the Islanders. That part was obvious and should come as a surprise to no one...right?
Anyway...
On Columbus vs. Boston...
The Jackets forecheck is the key to this series. The Lightning had no answers at all to it and couldn't get any rhythm going versus the Jacket. The Bruins are much better suited to play the way Columbus plays. The Bruins need to take advantage of tonight however. If Columbus can keep this streak aiive it will get very tight very fast for Boston.
Tonight is the key and each team has a factor working against them. The Jackets will be rusty, and the Bruins will still be in Toronto mode. Columbus will put forth way more hard work and pressure on Boston and the Bruins need to shift gears quickly.
My pick: Boston in 6
On Dallas and St Louis....
This will be an epic series. The Stars won 3 of 4 this year against the Blues and managed to really frustrate St Louis. Dallas can really come at you in waves and Bishop has the ability to win games by himself..These Blues however have a "team of Destiny " feel to them and finally having a goalie capable of winning in the playoffs has done wonders for St Louis' confidence. This will be a long and hard-fought series reminiscent of the old Norris Division Blues/North Stars clashes... I predict it goes 7 games, but there will be OT games a few double OT games...maybe even a triple OT thrown in there. By the time the dust settles teams will play around 27-29 periods of hockey...
My pick? Blues in Game 7, Double OT. It will feel like Game 9
