Whenever Elliotte Friedman reports something, usually confirmation of it happens a few minutes later.

University of Michigan prospect Rutger McGroarty has been dealt by the Winnipeg Jets to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

McGroarty,20, was the Jets first-rounder in 2022, but did not sign with the club after his sophomore season with the Wolverines.

Pens 2023 first-rounder Brayden Yager is headed to Manitoba. The 19-year-old scored 95 points (35 goals. 60 assists) with the WHL's Moose Jaw Warriors last season.
