Big day of rumors ahead.
On Gibson and the goalie market…
Start here… The Edmonton Oilers are in heavy discussions with the Anaheim Ducks right now regarding Goalie John Gibson…. Some are saying that they feel Carolina could also make a move for Gibson… it really does appear that this is the trade deadline where Gibson finally gets moved. Frankly, I would love it if Edmonton got him. He deserves a shot. The other goalie that’s out there….kind of on the fringes still…. is Anton Forsberg….
On Rantanen….
Sounds like this weekend is going to be the make or break moment for Mikko Rantanen in Carolina…. The popular belief is that Carolina will stick to him through the playoffs and continue to negotiate. However, some teams are not waiting around for that and lots of calls are going on. Dallas is a good bet here if it were to fall through. LA has been also mentioned to me.
On Gudas…
This is a tough one, because I have good friends out in Anaheiim, close to the organization, who say the Ducks aren’t gonna be sellers at all that they’re even going to look into buying… I think that might be a year premature, and we’ll see exactly how ambitious they’ll get here…. Florida is looking for a defenseman, and obviously Gudas was a big part of the Panthers two playoff runs ago… it’s those playoffs that make Radko attractive in general to the whole league…. I’ve heard Detroit mentioned and Washington. And in the last hour Toronto….makes sense. Berube had Gudas in Philly…
