The ending of last night's Islanders/Lightning game may go down as one of the greatest moments and single plays in NHL history. On two levels.
If you haven't seen it, I attached a stream of it below.
Essentially, with the goalie out and on the attack with seconds to go, Kucherov makes an incredible pass to McDonagh...as Varlamov challenges the shooter, McDonagh has the crazy presence of mind to do a spin-a-rama to his backhand, therefore negating Varlamov's angle, and his shot whips passed Varly, towards what should be an open net only to find Ryan Pulock defending the net...Pulock, somehow managed to legally stop the shot as the clock ticks down to seros....and the Islanders have tied the series at 2.
I can't remember a more incredible sequence of events... Can you?
