The St Louis Blues were very interested in Eichel….right up to the end I am told. In the end the Knights were more willing to risk more than anyone else right now… Tarasenko was being discussed in a possible Eichel I am told on good authority.
The Montreal Canadiens are in need of something fast. Some skill and some speed, but maybe more than any of that they are in need of new energy. Tarasenko has shown he is back…and back in a big way. In the first 9 games of the season he has 4 goals and 7 assists and has been a big part of the Blues stronger than expected start.
But Tarasenko has a big cap hit AND he won’t come cheap as long as he is performing at this over a point-a-game pace.
No names or picks yet from any of my sources, but my best Montreal source has seen what would need going back the other way and tells me he feels, “There’s a deal to be done…for sure.” Montreal might wait a bit, but there are some high ups in the organization who can sense the team’s playoff chances fading away so quickly after their run to the Finals just months ago…
