On Giordano.... There are basically 4 teams with serious interest. All would have to be creative...Sometimes when trying to predict where a player is headed you have to look at who needs him most...That team might be the Maple Leafs... He shoots left, but can play either side and really he is exactly what is needed. A solid two-way leader who knows when to step up and can make a fantastic transition pass. The Flames are laying in the weeds, but he is such a perfect fit and the Flames are afraid to mess with chemistry...Gio doesn't hurt the chemistry in Calgary...If anything he brings it up. The Rangers have the cap space and would like a longer term solution. The Panthers are involved. but likely won't want to spend this much..
On Hampus Lindholm..
The Ducks are trying VERY hard to sign him, but won't let him walk for free this summer...He could be moved and still return in the summer. I am told he does LOVE the south Cali life... The Rangers love him and could extend him. The Panthers see him as a definite upgrade...What is interesting her is at least two teams NOT in the playoff hunt are involved. Detroit and Philly. I have also heard Dallas, Seattle, Montreal could get in
On Josh Manson...
A perfect rental for a playoff team preparing to go to war. and it seems like two divisional rivals...Florida and Toronto are willing to go hard for Manson...In the end I think this is where Toronto goes. The Rangers are also poking around. There are still people in NY that question there overall toughness and Manson is the kind of player that makes everyone play bigger...
On Ben Chiarot...
At one point he was the #1 D man available...He is still near the top, but it feels like he is not #1. His year has been what was expected, and his performance in the playoffs last year is probably the biggest reason he is such a big ticket. Probably why the Habs get a #1. At this point I keep hearing Boston and Calgary...of course the other teams mentioned looking for defense may domino in this direction should they miss out on their first choice...
