Today we have the first big rumor blog for the official opening of NHL trade season !
On Talbot…..
There was a kind of “off the record” rumor flying around right before the trade freeze that the Oilers were heavy in on CanTalbot, and to expect this deal to happen after the freeze. There were some saying, the Hurricanes were as well, but I never quite got that impression. I’m not saying the Canes should shouldn’t be. I think they should go hard for Tablott, but I never heard they were actually intrested at this point.
The bigger question here is does the coaching change in Detroit change anything? Although Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman is famous for his silence and the tight grip he has on any leaks coming out of the theorganization, we’re gonna find out soon if he does indeed have a mandate to make the playoffs this year. As many have pointed out, you don’t sign Patrick Kane and Taresanko to be a non-playoff team.
Kreider in the JT Miller Discussions?
I was really surprised to find this to be true, but it is. Kreider would be a great fit in Vancouver too.. I guess it all depends on what else the Rangers would have to give up…..
Pierre LeBron says Flyers listening on Ristolainen.
According to Pierre, the flyers are willing to move the defenseman if the price is right. One thing I will say about this Flyers management, more than any other I’ve covered, as they will listen on almost any player at any time. I find a lot of good GMS like this. Even if they don’t wanna actually trade a player, talking to another GM is always a good idea. So whatever r starts the conversation, the Flyers will take the call. That’s a very strong impression I’ve gotten from all around the league.
