So it's exciting right now to start to hear good ole fashioned hockey rumors again!
And this one is a doozy...
Per a trusted source:
The Leafs and Sabres first discussed Dman Rasmus Ristolainen back at the deadline, but the deal was nixed by Toronto because the Sabres wanted some key players from Toronto that the Leafs needed for this year's playoffs... But neither team ever nixed the concept and now they are once again talking and per my source this deal could go down "as soon as the Leafs are ready." In other words, after the playoffs end for Toronto.
The rumoured deal would send Sabres RD Rasmus Ristolainen to Toronto, along with a couple mid-round picks for Andreas Johnsson and Alex Kerfoot and a 2020 pick.
This deal helps both teams in a lot of ways. The Leafs are not likely to bring back Tyson Barrie and frankly Rasmus Ristolainen is a better all-around player who fits more into the way the Leafs want to play. Kerfoot brings an element that Krueger has been asking for when it comes top attitude and Andres Johnsson adds a second/third line player who is capable of putting up 20 goals and is signed to a reasonable contract for the next three years...
