As I reported about two weeks ago, there is a deep belief around the NHL that Mikko Rantanen has a destination already set in his head as to where he wants to play the next 7 or 8 years. It’s not about money, as Carolina knew he would be pretty asking for max money. However. From sources in Colorado, I was told the Avs moved him suddenly because they realized he already knew where he wants to go and as a UFA is allowed to do that this summer…

I’ve heard LA and Chicago mentioned, even Montreal…. But he’s playing his card is very close to his chest and I don’t think anyone knows for certain but Mikko and his close circle.

Today, as Carolina’s GM, I will be listening to pitches from you and tomorrow I will tell you where I decide to move him to based on your offers…
