Start here today..

I am hearing rumors about the NHL schedule that will begin on August 1 and I for one am pretty damn excited about it. The schedule will look like this:

Times Listed in Eastern Time.

12 Noon: Game 1 in Toronto
2pm: Game 1 in Edmonton
4pm: Game 2 in Toronto
6pm: Game 2 in Edmonton
8pm: Game 3 in Toronto
10pm: Game 3 in Edmonton

That’s right. 6 games a day, everyday. And with the staggered start times you are guaranteed that some games will be on ALL the time for at least 13 hours a day. Insane fun for all of us. Thank you NHL and NHLPA!

Speaking of...

It sounds like today or tomorrow will bring the ratification of the plan and the NEW CBA.

The one aspect of the new CBA that I am baffled by is the removal of the 5 day courtship period that comes prior to the UFA signing day. This period was nothing but positive for both the players and the teams and made offering huge contracts to players who you weren’t allowed to even meet with ridiculous. This change will take us back to the days when GMs and agents had to work in the shadows...

Any guesses as to why the NHL would make this change?!

More to come
