As a big fan of cryptozoology, I was backing either cryptid, Sasquatch or Kraken, and we at least got one of them... The Seattle Kraken are here!
They become the second cryptid in the NHL...the third if you include the AHL...Can you name the other cryptid team names?
What's a cryptid?
Per Webster's: An animal (such as Sasquatch or the Loch Ness Monster) that has been claimed to exist but never proven to exist.
Now some may say the Kraken, the giant octopus of folklore, is no longer a cryptid, with the discovery and proof of the existence of The Giant Squid...a squid that lives in the deep, can grow up to roughly 60 feet in length, and wages epic fights against Sperm Whales...
It was first filmed in the ocean in 2015...
However, examining old images of the Kraken I would say they are more of a Giant Octopus that attacked pirate ships....And the Giant Octopus have only been known to grow to 30 feet....
Why all these facts?
My son is all about zoology so this is a VERY RARE chance to share some of the knowledge that has rubbed off on me over the years.
We will get back to hockey this afternoon with the rumor chart update...
