The season is going strong and the crown jewel of this year’s trade deadline is still very much available and likely will be until the deadline itself….

So who is interested as of now and how could this play out?

* The NY Rangers…

The Rangers are where Kane wants to go…if not now, then when he becomes a free agent…however the Rangers may nit want to give up the kinds of prospects it will take for this year.

* The NY Islanders…

The Isles might seem unlikely to many, but don’t dismiss the Islanders i am told. They would like Kane long term…

*. The Oilers..

Edmonton is in WIN NOW mode and would love more depth and clutch scoring. Kane would lov e to play in Edmonton for a playoff run.

* Nashville…

Yes, Nashville. Don’t discount David Poile’s ability to pull off major deals.

* Florida….

The Panthers feel a little off right now, after their dominant regular season, but a large part if that step back to be a better playoff team moving forward. Zito may not have the draft picks needed to make this happen, but I wouldn’t bet against his creativity.

* Colorado…

The Avalanche may be the current favorite because they have the best prospects and playing with a Cup champ like Colorado could extend Kane’s career for quite some time…
