It’s still early., but already we are starting to see some interesting surprises…

Here are some teams I am starting to feel I was under valuing and if I think they can keep it up.

#1 Philadelphia Flyers.

Ok. It’s only been two games, but three things are happening that really have me pleasantly surprised.
* Tortorella is getting the young guys to live up to their potential. The reason people thought the Flyers had a chance to contend prior to last year was because the mix of young guns like Konecny, Farabee, Frost, and Provorov were all supposed to continue progress while Couturier, Hayes, Giroux and JvR could still play. We are seeing that development this season.
*Carter Hart needed to be elite. He has shown signs of being elite, but last year he lost his way as he looked young when dealing with a team that couldn’t score in front of him. He looks enrgized.
*They needed to work hard from puck drop. They are doing that for the first time in several years.
Can it last? They have to play Tampa and Florida over the next few nights on the road. I don’t see them contending for the division, but if the young players can maintain their confidence until Couturier and Ristolainen return they could contend for a playoff spot

#2. Dallas
The Stars never get the credit they deserve from anyone…I am guilty on all accounts. I said that Mason Marchment may have been the best off season signing, but I really didn’t give this team the credit they are due as a squad in general. They are loaded with offense and have sone serous young talent…They also have one of the best goalies in the world. They are a force.
Can it last? I think it absolutely can. They have it all.

#3. Boston.

So far they are looking every bit like they could win the division and be a playoff force. It’s going to be a fun year if they can keep this up. They aren’t even fully healthy and yet they look reborn on the ice. They are fast and playing with a ton of emotion. It is amazing what Krejci means to this group!
Can it last? I am not going to say it can’. They depend on waves of emotion.
