Ek: Oh man….yeh that’s the big question. I believe they will hire a GM/Team President Team. Briere at GM, someone Ike a Brian Burke, Ray Shero as President. I believe they will keep Provorov with the new regime.. Hart is totally safe. I could see Konecny and Sanheim moving at the draft. They LOVE Fantilli.

Ek: Great questions.
1. Moving up in the draft into the top 5 looks almost impossible, but after that, yes, I do think this draft will see MANY teams moving up and down.
2. The Sharks aren’t as far away as people think…IMO. They have drafted some good young players. They would love to move Logan, but that fan base will probably be patient.. I love going out there to games.
3. Three points for reg win. Its too obvious, but their fear is teams would run away with it and they liked the playoff battles this year. It’s easy to forget the last year’s playoff battles were terrible because the league was basically split into the haves and have Nots. NHL doesn’t fix things unless it’s really broken. Why do you think the two line pass held on forever?

Who do the Oilers move out in the off season in order to sign Bouchard and some other in house UFA's? Secondly, Do the Flames make any big moves to right the ship or do they chalk year one up to lack of chemistry? More of a "let's see what happens next before any movement."

Love these questions too. Two very different teams here.
As per Edmonton Bouchard it’s gonna get harder and harder to sign. Obviously the guy is shown in the playoffs that he is the real deal. One of the first homegrown real deals they’ve had in a long time on defense. It’ll be super interesting to see how they play that I haven’t gotten any sense of anything yet because they’re still playing and of course the rumors are not there yet.
As per Calgary. Totally different situation. This is a team that is really in a re-tool and have some chemistry issues for sure. They made some good deals and the Kadri siding made all the sense in the world. I’m honestly shocked that they didn’t make the playoffs. Obviously Markstrom had a terrible year, but coming off of a not terrible year a few years ago it’s really hard to judge. I think they’re gonna stay the course but I do think they will change coaches. I’m tracking them a lot however so I will update you if anything changes

Totally fair. I don’t need to make excuses around here but it’s been a rough year with family health as you may know if you follow the podcast. I hardly get any sleep these days and often By the time I talk to my sources I am writing as fast as I can and off to some appointment somewhere to see some doctor specialist for my son. I have lately been trying to take care of this because you’re not the only one obviously who is complaining. I would love to hire an editor, but money is tight on the Internet and the reality is I’d rather pay my writers and keep my writers. Not that anyone notices but I take a lot of pride that we didn’t fire a single person or layoff anyone throughout the whole Covid and/or Internet advertising crash of the last year sports net ESPN TSN hockey news… They’ve all laid off people. I truly respect my writers here and will work for free often to keep everyone else going… That’s not an answer, but I still don’t feel good about it/ I can edit better and I will try. Thanks for continuing to read and hopefully Deciphering my chicken scratch sometimes.

Kyle Okposo is an UFA and the Sabres have made it known that they would like to bring him back next season. I think he was a good captain for this young team, but I think the Sabres can definitely upgrade from what he brings. Personally, I would like to see the Sabres pursue someone like Jonahan Towes and sign him to 1- or 2-year deal. Thoughts on this?

I’m with you on the two year contract. I don’t think it’s fair to ask him for one year. I do know that Coach loves him and the players love him and he has absolutely been instrumental in keeping this team from being too young. We will have a New sabres but writer very soon.

They may buy out Hayes, but torts Isn’t really in that camp. It really depends who’s the president and general manager I have to say. We won’t know for a while but I have heard they are starting some second interviews for the president job. After that the president and Comcast will interview GM’s in a few weeks. So until that team is in Play it’s really hard to say.

Word is Went Wughes to make another statement at the draft to potentially move up or bring immediate help in. FLA 1st rounder in play along with the logjam on the backend. If the price tag rumours for Dubois are true lets hope they steer clear of that otherwise management should be canned. Not giving up that much assets for that player, dude took 2 penalties late and in OT last game..Winnipeg has little leverage in negotiations. That price has to come way down or homeboy can play it out in Winnipeg. Overpaying because French is a recipe for disaster to destroying the foundation being built last thing anyone needs is another Drouin headache.

First off… Definitely one of my favorite top five usernames! Great question. Lots there, but simply I do believe that Dubois is going to end up in Montreal… And the Jets know this because I was told that other teams have called about him and they just said don’t worry about it. I don’t think Montreal would go crazy though trying to get him immediately. The Jets or the ones that will have to push that so they don’t lose them for nothing
