Props to the Buffalo Sabres and their never say die attitude.

Shame on the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The former two-time Stanley Cup champs are now 1-7-2 in their past ten games after collapsing in epic fashion in their 5-4 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night.

The Penguins built a 4-1 lead and tried to tuck the Sabres in to their beds for the night.

The Sabres have won six straight games in dramatic fashion. Eichel & Company have come from behind in five of the six wins.

Tage Thompson scored his first goal of the season for the Sabres.

The clearly Penguins underestimated the hottest team in the NHL and lost to the Sabres. Mike Sullivan's coaches clearly didn't drill into the heads of their players that the Sabres have been coming from behind to win games for the past two weeks. The Sabres had waged dramatic comebacks in recent wins against Minnesota, Winnipeg, Tampa Bay, Vancouver, and Montreal.

Now you can add Pittsburgh to the list of victims.

After extending the NHL's longest active winning streak tonight, Phil Houlsey's team is on their first six-game winning streak in a single season since December 27, 2009 to January 8, 2010.

With the improbable win, the Sabres snap their eight game losing streak in Pittsburgh that began in 2013.

The Sabres won 5 of the 45 games that they surrendered the first goal in the atrocious 2017-18 season that saw the Sabres finish in 31st place in the NHL standings. The Sabres now have won 5 of 11 one goal games already this year.

Jack Eichel scored 45 seconds into overtime after the Buffalo Sabres came back from down three goals in a 5-4 win against the Sabres.

Thanks, Sabres.com

Eichel's OT GWG capped off his ninth multi-point goal of the season. Eichel's nine multi-point games through 21 games tie him for the top mark in the league and leave him just nine shy of his career-high 18 in a season.

After Zach Bogosian and Casey Nelson scored to cut Pittsburgh's lead to 4-3.

Casey Mittelstadt tied it 4-4 at 11:12 of the third period.

Pretty funny that Pens goalie Casey DeSmith surrendered goals against to Sabres youngsters Casey Mittelstadt and Casey Nelson.

Carter Hutton battled, scratched and clawed to give his team a chance to win desppite being down 4-1. Hutton was down but not out.

Hutton made 36 saves on the 40 shots he faced (.900 SV%) for Buffalo (13-6-2), many of the point-blank, home plate variety.

Hutton is 5-0-0 with a .940 SV% and a 1.42 GAA in his last 5 games.

In his last 5 starts against Pittsburgh, Hutton has stopped 110 of 115 shots (.944 SV%) in five career appearances against the Penguins – all of which have taken place in Pittsburgh – including shutouts in each of his two starts against the team.

DeSmith made 35 saves for the Penguins (7-8-4), who are 1-7-2 in their past 10 games.

The Penguins got first period goals from Derick Brassard and Phil Kessel. Jake Guentzel and Tanner Pearson lit the lamp in the second period to give the Penguins a 4-1 lead.

Game. Set. Match.

Right?

Wrong?

The Sabres have outscored opponents 12-4 in third period this season. The Penguins had no answer for Buffalo's even strength attack in the third period.

The Sabres are a resilient, stubborn, aggressive that never feels like it is out of a game no matter how dire the straits appear to be.

The Sabres are now in third place in the Eastern standings and fourth place in the NHL overall standings.

Now do you believe?!!

This tweet aged well, eh?

Enjoy this wild ride, Sabres fans!
