Up next on our list is the Buffalo Sabres. Since their best player is rather obvious, we'll share our thoughts on the next best.

Jack Eichel is the undisputed answer here. There’s not really much – any? – room for debate.
With that in mind, I’m going to share my thoughts on Buffalo’s second best player. To me, it’s Rasmus Dahlin.
He had 40 points in 59 games prior to the pause. That’s very impressive for any defender, let alone a sophomore on a low scoring team.
Dahlin is also one of the team’s better play drivers and the Sabres’ goal share was ~10% higher with him on the ice than without. He makes a positive impact across the board.
I think he has quietly turned into a star and it won’t be long before he’s an Eichel-caliber superstar.

If Jack Eichel is the obvious choice for best Sabres player, then the next best player is Rasmus Dahlin.
Dahlin put up a positive corsi, and a 55% GF% playing on a garbage Sabres team. (This is a bit of a generous interpretation of his numbers, as his Exgoals was negative and his PDO high),
He put up a P/60 rating that made him the 12th highest scoring defenseman, per hour, in the NHL (800 minutes).
His most common partner was Colin Miller, which isn't ideal, but he did put up some pretty spectacular numbers when on the ice with Eichel, which is.
Overall, the Sabres may be a pretty badly run franchise, but they've set themselves up nicely with Eichel, Dahlin and Reinhart. If Middlesat, Ollaffson and especially Colzen work out, they're going to be awesome by default. Dahlin will end up being better than Hughes or Makar, that's my prediction. He is an astounding player and its hidden by his garbage team.
