Just a few days ago, Michigan State Forward Isaac Howard was given the Hobey Baler Award for the outstanding college player this year…. Howard had 52 points (26-26) in 37 games. He also won the Big Ten scoring title and was named player of the year in the conference, as well as a first-team All-American. The big book on him says that it’s not just that he can score goals. It’s that he has the ability to score big goals. That he loves the limelight and that he loves pressure.

Howard was drafted in the first round by the Tampa Bay Lightning, but is yet to sign a contract and is expected to go to free agency…. I’m told the flyers are willing to go pretty strong on this kid and. The fact that his linemate was friend at MSU was Karsen Dorwart could become a major factor in where “Ike” (as they call him) chooses to sign….

The Flyers could also make a deal with Tampa to get his rights n order to jumpstart the process…But I am hearing they may just wait until it costs them nothing… if my source is correct that tells me there’s a certain level of confidence with the Flyers……that they can get this done.

More to come…
