Thursday, ESPN revealed their 2021-22 broadcast schedule. That list includes exclusive games as well as those stream on, ESPN+, who will stream more than 1,000 out-of-market games, taking over from Center Ice. In all, the Rangers will appear eight times exclusively on the various ESPN networks. What that means to those of us in NY, as to if we will be blacked out remains to be seen. In the past, on ESPN, you were blocked out but on NHL Network on NBC Sports Network, I was not. But I would not be shocked if the ESPN+ contests are blocked out.

ESPN+/Hulu:

Each Tuesday in 2021, October 19 through December 28, ESPN+ will host at least one exclusive matchup with highlights. Included are the Rangers versus the Avalanche on December 14 at 9pm. Additional Friday game highlights include the Rangers versus the Bruins on November 26 (Black Friday at 3:30pm). In February, ESPN+ will air the Panthers at Rangers on Tuesday, February 1. In April, ESPN+ will air the Penguins at Rangers on Thursday, April 7.

ESPN:

ESPN will carry 18 exclusive regular-season games beginning with the NHL FaceOff on Opening Night. The Rangers make one appearance, when they take on the Capitals on Thursday, February 24, the first day back from the Olympics break.

ABC:

ABC will carry 10 regular season games. Beginning February 26 – following the Winter Olympic break – ABC will host a weekly Saturday NHL game throughout the remainder of the regular season. The first of nine Saturday matchups will feature the Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins. The Rangers will make two more appearances on ABC, first March 19, 8pm, at the Lightning. The second, April 23, 3pm, at Boston in the first of a back-to-back, home-and-home against the Bruins. All ABC games will be simulcast on ESPN+.
