Are you rooting for former Wings in playoffs?

Moritz Seider is an exciting prospect for the future of this club. His performance in Sweden was impressive, and his work ethic is fantastic. His decision to head to Sweden was revisited by Steve Yzerman in some recent interviews. (Moritz was originally playing in a German league while waiting for the league to restart). “I want to play” was his message to the GM. It turned out well for everyone involved.

Last night Anthony Mantha got his first taste of the NHL post season. It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 8 years since he was drafted. The group that is here for the rebuild has some waiting to do (assuming they stay with the team) before they get to experience it. Mantha had an assist, 1 shot, 4 hits and 1 block in his first post season experience. The Capitals won in overtime. Seeing that on ice celebration, it really hit home how much I miss seeing the Winged Wheel out there in the post season.

When it comes to this time of year, I tend to root for some of the players that spent some time in Detroit. I’d love to see Tatar or Mantha win a cup. I’m happy for the experience they’re getting that just wasn’t available in Motown. Who, if anyone, are you rooting for in this post season? Here’s a list of former Detroit players that are in the playoffs:

Capitals Players:
Nick Jensen
Anthony Mantha

Nashville Players:
Calle Jarnkrok

Canadiens Players:
Tomas Tatar
Jon Merrill

Vegas Players:
Tomas Jurco
*Mattias Janmark (never really played for Red Wings, traded as prospect)
Tomas Nosek

Apologies if I’ve left anyone off. Let me know who you’re watching in the comments.
