Detroit lost an exciting preseason game to Chicago. . It struck me that, again, Lucas Raymond figured in on the score sheet. He had a goal and an assist, and continues to look like he belongs on this side of I-96. He has 6 points in three games (2G, 4A). He’s easily the most exciting watch on the roster for most fans right now.

Blashill may double (or triple) down, but at this point if you’re Dylan Larkin, you’re going to make a case for him to at least start in Detroit. The Grand Rapids Express is always available if needed.

Larkin benefitted from some veterans going to the coach’s office when he was 19, it would be nice to see him pay that forward. Seider has also looked solid. It’s so rare to have 2 young prospects look so ready to go for this program.

I decided to make a compilation of Raymond’s goals and assists. The only one missing was an assist on an empty net with Fabbri. I hope you enjoy the montage. This kid came to town like a whirlwind, hence “Hurricane Raymond” is born. Hopefully this is one storm that won’t run out of steam.

From the Buffalo Game: (I don’t have the empty net, which was another Raymond assist)

Second period:
I was thinking to myself how much easier this team is to watch, even though they’re not converting. And then, the best 23 seconds I can remember (and if you say my honeymoon, you’ll be banned from the board). Fabbri scores off of a rebound with a lightning quick release. Any hesitation and it doesn’t go in. 23 seconds later, Raymond just fed his own hype machine a roll of quarters. What a beauty, and Suter figures in on both.

Fabbri’s goal:

Raymond’s goal:

From Columbus game:

Veleno with a nice tap in off of a Larkin pass. Leddy had several good keep ins, a nice no look pass by Raymond that Larkin couldn’t one time but got the goalie moving. Nice work by all.

Veleno goal:

Wings back on the power play with 2:41 left. 2 goals with the advantage so far tonight. Larkin makes it good for his 2nd of the night. He, again, got a pass from Raymond, this time he was able to play 3 post bingo off of a short side snap shot.

Larkin goal:

From Chicago game:

Detroit managed to kill the rest of the penalty. Around the 4 minute mark, Detroit came out with the man advantage. A faceoff win (see, they matter) with a quick shot by Larkin then saw the puck moved up top to Leddy, who passed to Raymond, who connected with Ryan at the net mouth for a beautiful power play tally. Raymond and Leddy continue to build their points tally in the preseason.

Ryan’s power play goal:

Ryan’s power play goal:

Detroit will go to an early power play as Caleb Jones and Dylan Larkin played twister without a board (a penalty in this league). Caleb got the call because he forgot to call out “right foot blue”. The 2nd unit started out, but the top line came in. Soon after, Raymond ripped a beauty after some insanely good passing plays. This kid is something special. Ryan to Larkin, Larkin found the 19 year old open and just a snipe shot.
