Detroit has gone 14-4-1 since returning from Christmas break. A 7 game win streak started in McLellan’s 2nd game, and Detroit has 6 straight in the current win streak. The trip through western Canada was highlighted by amazing performances in net. It’s been a different feel for the team and fans, with a lot of excitement coming in the comments.

On this trip, the net minders have put up save percentages of: .957 by Lyon in Edmonton stopping 45 of 47, .971 by Talbot in Calgary stopping 24 of 25, and .926 by Lyon stopping 25 out of 27 in Vancouver. A fantastic backstop. There has been a good deal of back and forth about an extension for Lyon, that will be a separate post during the 4 game break following the Seattle game. As incredible as Lyon has been for Detroit, at 32 he only has 2 seasons of more than 20 games with just 104 played in the NHL since the 2017-2018 season. He’ll be 33 in December.

For now, the two work horses have helped Detroit get in the wild card mix with a big boost after the changes behind the bench. The power play has been a bit cold on this road trip, but the team has found a way in no small part thanks to Talbot and Lyon.

Let me know your thoughts on what you hope to see in Seattle. Detroit needs to get shots on goal back up and running and get some more power play opportunities to cash in on. Another 7 game win streak would be more than welcome.
