St. Louis is out, any players of interest?

I did a post about mental health earlier today. If you didn’t catch it, here’s the link. I’m trying to make sure to discuss teams as they’re eliminated and if those rosters could yield some trades to Detroit. If Washington is eliminated tonight, I will post that blog tomorrow. First in the winner’s (er, losers) circle is St. Louis.

St Louis drew one of the Stanley Cup favorites as their first round opponent and weren’t able to get any traction. Faulk’s violent exit, courtesy of perennial post season offender Nazem Kadri didn’t help their cause to be sure. The Avs are just a powerhouse right now, and St Louis has lost some important pieces.

Here is the St. Louis Cap Friendly page. 15 contracts are coming off the books, some as UFA, some as RFA. There just aren’t many names that jump out as a good fit for Detroit’s rebuild. Mike Hoffman is a goal scorer, but his reputation “in the room” isn’t the greatest at this point. He was looking for 6 million plus on a deal with term, but the COVID economy saw him take a 1 yr/4 million dollar shot with STL.

Jaden Schwartz and Tyler Bozak are both on expiring deals as well. Schwartz is well liked in STL, it would be a surprise to see him leave even if he has to take a discount to stay. Bozak, 35, may want to play for a discount on a contending team.

The only player that really catches my eye is 28 year old Colton Parayko. The 6’6” right shot D man has 1 more year at 5.5 million. The year St. Louis won it all, he was mentioned as a trade candidate. I wouldn’t go out of my way on this deal, but I wouldn’t hate seeing another #55 in Detroit.

So, where are you at? Will St Louis make some drastic changes? Who on the roster interests you, and what would you give up to get them? Let me know. David Perron is valuable to the club for scoring, so I didn’t list him. He could be made available, for sure, but not sure Detroit would pay the ask on that.
