Unfortunately, Raymond’s milestone wasn’t enough to overcome the battle of the inept. The worst power play beat the worst penalty kill. None of you who come here regularly need to be brought up to speed on what the issues are. This looks and feels like a season that has management looking at the lotto. Smile and waive.

The good news is that Raymond just seems to be taking another step forward. He doesn’t have to clean the puck off, he’s just launching it. On the flip side, the team may have lost Kane, and it seems like that one day Chicago contract is coming at some point. Passionate followers of the team are checking out and that’s hard to see and hear about.

Unless there are fervent interviews going on in secret, the team is what it is. This isn’t a year you want to trade draft picks to get slightly better. Detroit just can’t string together 3 20 minute periods without some mental collapse. It’s hard to watch, and harder to put into words. This team has done a lot for the city in the past, but right now the Lions are driving that limited edition F150.

Congrats to Raymond on 200 points. He seems to show up wanting to work regardless of what’s going on. I wonder how many kids will be asking for golf gloves for Christmas this year….

1st Period goals:

Raymond opened the scoring as his upgraded gloves seem to have the Midas touch. Edvinsson sent a puck toward the net but was deflected off of a skate over to Raymond who grabbed his 8th of the season (8th assist for Edvinsson) 1-0 DET

1:45 later the Bruins tied it as Zadorov gets his first as a Bruins and Detroit continues to spiral defensively.

Shots: 12-6 BOS
Score: 1-1

2nd Period goals:

Marco Kasper got his 3rd of the season on the power play at 12:41. Goal was challenged for offsides successfully, still 1-1.

Shots: 19-17 BOS
Score: 1-1

3rd Period goals:

1:19 into the 3rd period Raymond gets his 2nd of the night. Quick release, doesn’t clean off the puck. Eddy gets another assist and Ras grabs one. 2-1 Detroit

Well, the worst power play scored on the worst penalty kill. Detroit’s inability to stay in a game shows up again. 2-2

Shots: 33-27
Score: 2-2

Overtime:

Boston takes it

Shots: 35-27
Score: 3-2
