What is going on with Walman and Athanasiou?

Jake Walman
Is missed by most if not all of you who faithfully stop by. A few of us have heard opinions/reasons for his move but none of it has made sense. In the link above, this quote came out:

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman did not join the team for warmups on Sunday night, indicating that he’ll miss a third-straight game due to team suspension and an upper-body injury

I knew the first game he missed wasn’t said to be injury related but the injury is now compounding even though his production is well above the other Dmen. Some of you are super sleuths. Is the a Vrana situation? The whole scenario stinks and he is missed. None of what I’ve heard connects the dots. I’m not in the room, to be fair. Still, what is going on with this talented and entertaining D man?
Today another former Red Wing is rumored to be heading to the waiver wire. Andreas Athanasiou may find himself on the outs with Chicago or they may be looking to upgrade.

AA (not the meeting) was an interesting prospect. He was fast and at his first training camp it felt like they’d found someone who could skate with a younger Darren Helm but with better hands. In his tenure, there was only one major issue I remember. He wanted a significant bump on his second deal and for all that a lot of fans loved about the speedy Athanasiou, he just didn’t have the clout to make it happen. He was late to camp that year (if I remember correctly) and is now another Red Wing journeyman.

Let me know your thoughts on Athanasiou as well as Walman. Rumors, again, are like passing gas. They stink and if you push too hard you get crap. Somewhere the real story is known by a handful of people and it would be fascinating to hear.
