Yesterday’s entry covered a lot of ground and some good back and forth in the comments. Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard saw their team eliminated and should be on their way over soon. Isaac Howard is going to get a lot of attention and it’s a sincere hope that Detroit would take a look (Ek has some info that Philly may be a top contender to get the player, and Philly was at plenty of MSU games this year) and the Grand Rapids Griffins signed Jacob Truscott to a 2 year deal.

Detroit faces Dallas now officially out of the playoff race, and the focus of fans (rightfully) is shifting toward prospects as well as players on the Wings closing out the season well. It would be fantastic to see Kasper hit 20 goals and Larkin hit 30. The line of Kane/Debrincat/Kasper is a lot of fun to watch. The team wants to finish strong and the game against the Stars is the final home stand of the season.

Shifting back to Truscott, I’d cited an article from last March where he’d informed Vancouver that he wouldn’t be signing. The U of M blue liner went back for a 5th year and had the eyes of the Detroit staff. Curious to see if this turns into a PTO for camp but it’s the situation of NCAA prospects. Once they get to that 4th year a player can decide if there’s a better fit than the drafting team. With the new NIL situation it’s one I hope (and have talked about at length) that will be addressed. Western winning the championship is part of the reason why. MSU is loading up for another run and may be a team that looks to “encourage” transfers with financial benefit attached. Western is not a small school (I went from 1995 to 1998) but the type of money in the big 10 has been flexed in other sports. It’s good to see teams put up a fight and Western grabbed bragging rights in the state of Michigan. Great program, congratulations to all the players.

For the end of the season, lend me your thoughts. Do you have goals for players on the team in Detroit? Have you shifted your view to Grand Rapids for a glance at the future? Will you tune in to see Sandin-Pellikka make his season debut?
