If you read me regularly, you already know that I’m not a TVA Sports fan and that’s mainly because their broadcasting team is pale in comparison to that of RDS. Pierre Houde and Marc Denis make quite the duo since no one comes close to Pierre when it comes to description and Denis’ analysis is always spot on. Unlike many former players who tried to make the transition to the small screen, Denis seems perfectly comfortable and apt to do the job he’s been hired to do. Apparently, he’s one of the candidates for the Habs’ GM role and if he was to get it, it would be a big loss for RDS no doubt.
As for post-game shows, I don’t think anything comes remotely close to RDS’ Antichambre, yes, there are some panelists on there that do not quite measure up, but Luc Bellemare does an honest job and guys like PJ Stock, Guy Carbonneau, François Gagnon and Vincent Damphousse make for great viewing. I also really like Chantal Machabée when she gets to anchor it. I’ll refrain from commenting on Gaston Therrien and Mario Tremblay, however.
On the English front, it’s a choice between Sportsnet and TSN and it’s not as clear cut I must say. There are some good eggs on some bad ones on each channel, but I do really enjoy Ron MacLean, Elliotte Friedman and Cassie Campbell-Pascall on Sportnet while Pierre Lebrun, Bob MacKenzie and James Duthie take the cake on the TSN front. As for Craig Button and Garry Galley, they make me want to change the channel fast.
I mentioned yesterday that Kaiden Guhle will be wearing the C for Canada at the World Junior Championships and last night, Team Czechia announced that Jan Mysak will have that honor for them. Meanwhile, another Habs prospect Oliver Kapanen will line-up for Team Finland.
