Montreal starts its five-game road trip in Calgary tonight in what will be the second and last game of the season between the two sides. The Flames won the first tilt in November by a score of 2-1. It seems a lifetime ago especially when you think that the Canadiens’ only goal of the game was scored by Gustav Lindstrom, a defenseman Montreal got in the Jeff Petry trade and has lost on waivers since.

Montreal has won six of the last 10 games against Calgary but the Flames still have a faint hope of qualifying for the playoffs, being eight points behind the Golden Knights that are hanging on the second wild-card spot.

The Flames have got two players who have scored 28 goals so far this season and the Canadiens would do well to keep a close eye on Blake Coleman and Yegor Sharangovich. Calgary’s point leader is Nazeem Kadri with 57 and the Canadiens get the upper hand there as captain Nick Suzuki is on 62. Speaking of Suzuki, the next goal he scores will establish a new career high for him.

No word yet on who will be in goal tonight, Samuel Montembeault played the last game against the Bruins while Cayden Primeau was in net on Tuesday shutting down the Blue Jackets. Primeau has lost his only career game against the Flames giving up 4 goals with a save percentage of just .879. As for Montemeault, he’s taken on Calgary twice and has lost both games during which his goal-against average was 2.53 and his SP .912. It will be interesting to see how many games Primeau gets until the end of the season.

Finally, David Reinbacher's team lost yesterday, meaning that their season is officially over and that last year's fifth overall pick should be heading this side of the pond in short order. The Rocket is very aware of that judging by their X post yesterday afternoon.
