With Ottawa Senators news rather quiet this week, I thought I would post a couple of discussion topics to see what Sens fans thought.
By tomorrow, the Sens will have Austen Watson, Nick Holden, Connor Brown, and Dylan Gambrell out of covid protocol. By the end of the weekend or Monday, the likes of Victor Mete, Josh Brown, Matt Murray, and Alex Formenton will also have finished their 10-day quarantine. Although Nikita Zaitsev and Drake Batherson won't be available when the Sens hit the road in Colorado.
When looking ahead to the game in Colorado, I'm curious to hear from Sens fans what they think the blueline should look like on Monday night. It's easily been the most discussed topic in Ottawa when it comes to the Senators. Here is what I think the defense pairings could like.
Chabot-Thomson
MDZ-Zub
Holden-Heatherington or dare I say Mete
At forward, here are some possible line combinations for the 1st game back in Colorado. I think the coaching staff should give Egor Sokolov a legit chance to show what he can do with some skilled players for a few games. Keep in mind, Formenton and Batherson are still in covid protocol.
Tkachuk-Norris-Sokolov
Stutzle-Paul-C.Brown
Sanford-Tierney-Ennis
Kelly-Gambrell or Shaw-Watson

I was looking at the Sens schedule and where Ottawa might be able to squeeze in the 3 missed games. Here is what I came up with it. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has looked at the options for the Sens with these makeup games. Feel free to post in the comment section your suggestions with the schedule.
Mon. Dec. 5th at NJ
Mon. Jan. 17th vs. NYR
Mon. Feb. 28th vs. Nashville

With the LA Kings sending down young promising center Gabe Vilardi to the AHL, I wonder if this is a player Sens GM Pierre Dorion has looked at possibly acquiring. He's in the 3rd year of his ELC, at 22 years of age, he has the size at 6'3" to make an impact if given the proper TOI like he got last year in his first full year with the Kings. LA needs help on defense and Ottawa has plenty of bodies on the blueline. Could these 2 teams help each other address a current need? I'm curious to hear from Sens fans if they think Vilardi would be a good fit, plus he's from nearby Kingston and trains in the off-season in Ottawa.
Thanks for reading.
