On the same evening as the US presidential election, the Winnipeg Jets shutout the Utah Hockey Club by the score of 3-0. It was Connor Hellebuyck's 2nd shutout of the season. It was Utah's first visit to the Canada Life Centre.

First Period:

There was no scoring in the 1st period. The Jets controlled the majority of the play. They outshot Utah 12-6. Karel Vejmelka made some big saves for Utah.

Second Period:

It looked like the 2nd period would go scoreless as well. However, with under 3 minutes left in the period, Gabe Vilardi tipped a Josh Morrissey point shot on the PP to put the Jets up 1-0 to finish the 2nd period.

Third Period:

Nino Niederrieter gave the Jets a 2-0 lead just under 8 minutes into the 3rd period and also added an empty net goal to make the final score 3-0 in the Jets favor.

Some takeaways from the game:

This was game number 900 for Niederreiter. A nice video tribute was shown for him in the 1st period. He put on a heck of a performance with his 2 goal game.

The Jets special teams continue to be a force. They were 1 for 2 on the PP and 4 for 4 on the PK.

In getting his 2nd shutout of the season, Hellebuyck only had to face 21 shots. The Jets did not give up much in front of him.

The Jets record is now 12-1 to start the season. However, they will be tested now as the schedule is going to get much tougher. In their next two games, the Jets will host Colorado and Dallas. These are two very big games early in the season for the Jets as Colorado embarrassed them in the playoffs last year and Dallas won their division. Let's see how they do.
