Jets: The Last of the Unbeaten Clubs |

The Winnipeg Jets entered Tuesday night as the last remaining unbeaten team in the league with a 5-0 record. That record is now 6-0 as the Jets went on the road and defeated the St. Louis Blues by a score of 3-2.
The 1st period began with both teams playing tight and neither side giving up much. Brendan Saad got the ice-breaker for the Blues when he banged in a rebound past Connor Hellebuyck to put the Blues up 1-0 at about the half way mark of the period. That’s how the first period would end.
The 2nd period was all Jets. Nino Niederrieter tied the game for the Jets when he tipped in Neal Pionk’s point shot on the PP. 5 minutes after that, Colin Miller’s bomb from the blue line gave the Jets a 2-1 lead. Then, with just under 3 minutes left in the period, Kyle Connor came off the bench, took the puck and scored blocker side on Jordan Binnington to put the Jets up 3-1 heading into the 2nd intermission.
5 minutes into the 3rd period, Saad banged in his second rebound goal of the game to bring the score to 3-2. But that would be as close as the Blues would get as the Jets and Hellebuyck shut the door the rest of the way.
Some takeaways from the game:
The Jets PP went 1 for 2 on the night and the PK was 2 for 2. Special teams continue to be pivotal for the Jets success thus far.
Cole Perfetti notched 3 assists on the night to give him seven points in six games. Good start to the season for him. For the Jets to remain amongst the top teams in the league, it is imperative for that 2nd line to put up its share of points.
Connor and Scheifele are now tied for the team lead in goals with 5 apiece through 6 games. It is still very early in the season, but if either of these two can flirt with a 50 goal pace, it will be an intriguing storyline for the season.
The Jets are next in action tomorrow night in Seattle. Let’s see if they can tame the Kraken.
