Florida Looks To Bounce Back Against CBJ

The Panthers dropped two winnable games against weaker teams in their last two outings.

It seems Florida has been sleepwalking in their previous 120 minutes of play. Not only that, they seem to be imploding in the third period as of late.

What’s the deal?

Some fans point to the Jones trade, citing him as a “cancer” in the locker room.

Ehh…I don’t think so. Way too early to say something like that.

I think it has more to due with some key guys being out that’s catching up to them. Injuries to Tkachuk and Kulikov certainly hurt. Then throw in the Ekblad suspension and those are three important pieces out — especially with #5 playing how he was.

I also wouldn’t rule out the “slumping Cat factor” that this team seems to experience a couple times throughout the season. They seem to hit these skids from time to time, cause us to panic, before getting things back on track.

TONIGHT

Our guys have luck on their side (again) tonight when they take on a struggling Blue Jackets team. Columbus was red-hot not too long ago, but they seem to have come back down to earth.

As Litter Box Cats point out:

The fading Blue Jackets have dropped four-straight and six of their last seven to fall out of a playoff spot. They played well in their last outing on Monday, but got goalied by Jake Allen, who made a season-high 45 saves, in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils. This will be the last of a four-game homestand that has seen Columbus score just one goal. They were shut out by Vegas and the New York Rangers prior to the Devils game.”

This is a big game for the Panthers. As mentioned above, they dropped their last two games, both of which they should have won. Now they have yet another opportunity to jump on a struggling team and get a much-needed rebound win.

Can they do it?

What better time to show your depth than by getting a nice win on the road.
