MTL at FLA

The Panthers were sloppy when they lost a game against what could realistically be a playoff matchup in the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.

They’ll be welcoming another Canadian team tonight when the Montreal Canadiens come to town. MTL is a team the Panthers narrowly escaped with a W the last time both teams met. Truthfully, the Cats kind of had no business winning that one. The Canadiens simply out-worked them and took advantage of Florida’s many mistakes.

No doubt the young/hungry Montreal crew will be eager to get some revenge tonight.

I like the idea of keeping the D pairings the same tonight. Let these guys build some chemistry. I’m hoping Weegar starts to get things buttoned up a bit here, as he has seemed to struggle lately. It almost feels like he’s trying to do too much. I often seem him shifting over to Chiarot’s side, trying to rush the puck up constantly, bobbling the puck, etc. I’d like to see him simplify things up.

Chiarot - Weegar
Forsling - Gudas
Hagg - Montour

Bob gets the nod. Good. Let him come back after a shaky game and rebuild after being off for over two weeks.

Sounding like Lundell will be back soon. Excellent news.

Hornqvist is day-to-day.

So looking at the above…it’s pretty standard for any team throughout the course of a season - even for one as good as this Panthers team. Injures, off nights, general struggles, etc., are always going to happen.

The recent road trip was not their best effort. Florida needs to use games like tonight as a way to work out their struggles and get their confidence back.
