The Panthers play a matinee game in South Florida against a desperate 33-30-9 Montreal Canadiens team trying to make a bid for a wild card spot.
In what should have been a Florida win the last time these two teams played (at least on paper), the scrappy MTL team downed FLA 3-1.
The Cats have since gotten their act together after succumbing to a frustrating slump for a bit. Though not dominant wins, Florida beat Pittsburgh 4-3 and Utah 2-1 in their last two games. Hey, a W is better than an L, but you and I both know they’re not playing Panthers hockey like we know they can be.
Florida should have a little extra mojo heading into this afternoon to get the win for captain Alexsander Barkov, who will be playing in his 800th game:
“He's just a brilliant example not just for young players, but for all the players that come in that are new for how things are done. He makes my life pretty easy." -HC Paul Maurice
With his first game, and an apple, under his belt with the Cats, I expect Brad Marchand continue his stellar play against the Habs this afternoon.
Hear from Brad Marchand after he meets the media following his fantastic debut with the Florida Panthers.
