Last night in Winnipeg the Athletic held a get together for subscribers, by all accounts it was a nice time and the tweets I saw were very praising of the people there. Due to a prior engagement I was not able to attend but wished I could have. What I find curious is the role of Leah Hextall with the Athletic. It seems she rarely produces content and that could be due to her role as a communication director for the premier Brian Pallister. I saw Leah in the role last spring at one of the Jets playoff games. There she was dressed in white head to toe with a "Winnipeg is good" T-shirt on parading around the premier... seems a little biased to me or maybe she's their to up the male/female ratio the organization is so often criticized for?

Paul Maurice separated the trio of Ehlers Little and Laine on Friday night as they were basically useless. That's something more and more people are coming to realize- this group doesn't fit. Mike McIntyre of the Free Press reported the Jets lines for today as Connor, Scheifele Wheeler, Perreault Little Laine. The others are placeholders going back to the Moose. So is this the beginning of some experimentation for the Jets second line? Do Copp or Lowry get a look at C?

Here's a thought about contracts that are suspect, and last night apparently Tyler Dellow received a polite earful from some about his belief in the Wheeler extension, if Little was not extended last fall who wold be that second line centre? Given that Little has a NTC now it would be next to impossible trade him but imagine swapping these guys and buying Duchene on the cheap?

Myers will play on the left side of Byfuglien today as that option seems to still be in the cards for the season. The left side of natural left shots looks like this: Morrissey, Morrow, Kulikov, Niku and Stanley. Why force Myers to his off side? Is it a matter of limiting ice time for others vs more trust in Myers? This is something to watch tonight because Myers has a difficult time making the first pass or even the read, will they try and force that to Buff and at what cost to efficiency?

Connor Hellebuyck starts tonight with Eric Comrie backing up. Will Brossoit get another start this preseason? I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Comrie too, he can't seem to put up consistently average numbers in the AHL and struggles when given a chance at the NHL level.

Former Jet Michael Hutchinson was waived by the Panthers and some have suggested the Jets pick him up. That relationship is over and while his life may be based in Winnipeg his career has moved on for him as Jeff Hamilton of the Free Press explained on Twitter yesterday.

An article from Arctic Ice Hockey came to my attention this morning it was titled 'TNSE does not love you'. Nope the probably don't and frankly I doubt many Jets fans care if the ownership loves them, but that's just one of many poor statements. If 'Happy Cara T' is worried about subsidies and such I suggest she take a walk down Pembina highway and visit the much maligned Winnipeg Football Club and take that cause up there. Take this statement, "the NHL allowed the sale and the move of the Thrashers o TNSE because it would make them more money." Reeeeeallly? Let's then talk about Florida, Carolina, Ottawa and Arizona to name but a few. Even the most cursory fact check on the move would show the statement is but a half-truth. There's more but it's not worth checking, a one great blog started by Gabe Desjardins is not nothing more than an SBN hot takery- can anyone say 'turnovers' because that's what's happened to the writers there.

Finally let's talk about the Jets and their ownership and taxes and controversies. TNSE is building a big development beside the Bell MTS Centre and they are in trouble (public opinion kind) for not including affordable housing in it. That's a social policy not a development one. Who are the elected officials who made this deal and why are they not doing something about it? Focus the anger on the problem where it really is. This is a city and province of supreme sub-par politicians and this is what you get with second rate one (if they are that good).

Hockey can't come soon enough for some as it's likely we can all nash our teeth around the Jets performance as opposed to manufactured issues, kinda like some I did here too I guess.
