The Trois-Rivieres Lions returned from the Christmas break and hosted the Adirondack Thunder (New Jersey Devils) on Friday and Maine Mariners (Boston Bruins) on Sunday at Colisee Videotron.
The Lions opened the scoring early into the contest as Tommy Cormier and Nicolas Guay (shorthanded) recorded goals 5:17 apart. Adirondack responded later in the period with a shorthanded goal of their own to cut the lead in half. The home team continued to press and scored the next four goals, including three on the power play, with Chris Jandric before the first intermission, Morgan Adams-Moisan and Guay in the second period, and Tommy Cormier in the third. With under three minutes remaining in regulation, the Thunder scored on the power play.
Sunday: Maine Mariners 2 - Trois-Rivieres Lions 6
Logan Nijhoff put Trois-Rivieres on top during the second minute of action by picking up his own rebound for the goal. The Mariners tied it before the first intermission and grabbed the lead midway through the second period on the power play. Momentum swung the other direction as the Lions got goals Tyler Holland, Nijhoff, Tommy Cormier, Justin Ducharme, and Alex Beaucage in a span of 8:22 of the second period. Maine was not able to recover from the Trois-Rivieres’ push in the middle frame.
