The Trois-Rivieres Lions completed a sequence of five consecutive games versus the Worcester Railers (New York Islanders) by hosting them on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Colisee Videotron.
The Railers led 2-0 early into the second period, when Nicolas Guay used the space in front of him to skate to the slot and beat the goalie with a wrist shot. Later in the period, Guay set up Jakov Novak for a one-timer from the faceoff dot to tie the game during a power play. The score remained unchanged through regulation and Worcester grabbed the extra point with 1:07 remaining in overtime.
The Lions got on the board first as Logan Nijhoff shot from the blue line and the puck went through traffic before finding its way to the back of the net. The Railers grabbed the lead with a pair of goals in a span of 4:19 before the intermission. In the second period, Tommy Cormier banked in a rebound from the crease to tie it. His brother Xavier tipped Wyatt McLeod’s point shot behind the goalie. Before the intermission, Anthony Beauregard had time and space to get a wrist shot in the net and at the same time to become the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.
Worcester led 2-0 through 40 minutes before Trois-Rivieres bounced back with a dominating third period. On the opening shift, Beauregard skated with the puck in the slot and scored with a wrist shot. Less than two minutes later, Morgan Adams-Moisan went top corner glove side to bring the teams back to square one. Tyler Holland gave the home team the lead for the first time by bouncing on his own rebound for a power play goal. Momentum stayed in the Canadiens affiliate favour as Andrew Coxhead used the traffic in front of the goalkeeper to score his first with the club. The captain Adams-Moisan made it a three-goal game after manoeuvring around the defender and burying the puck at the back of the net.
