A window into Sidney Crosby's mindset |

The Penguins and Blue Jackets are the only game in town tonight, but they won’t have the spotlight. The game is on the NHL Network which isn’t commonly found on a lot of current legal streaming setups. Old habits die hard for the NHL.
Columbus is currently three points shy of the second wild card spot so they will have motivation to make a go of things tonight. The Penguins of course are just meandering towards the finish line scattering in some good and bad performances on a path to a very likely top ten pick.
Some have questioned why Sidney Crosby has signed on for this kind of existence and here’s a little window into his perception on things
Spoke with Crosby earlier this week for this story. Not everything he said made the cut. A quote I wanted to share that didn’t seem to fit:

That 2017 Cup run was pretty remarkable considering how much hockey the Penguins had been playing. It was a shell of the on-ice results compared to the buzzsaw 2016 team and I think Sid is kind of alluding to that with mentioning how banged up they were. He’s also an optimist and the 2017 run only embedded that further. You have to be wired this way in order to attain the consistency he’s provided throughout his career.
A career which is barreling towards a 20th consecutive point per game season
Sidney Crosby is on pace to record his 20th season averaging at least one point per game—he is 6 points away from clinching the line this season.

And I’d also like to give some love to Evgeni Malkin who has 15 point per game seasons of his own, among the best of all-time to do it. Penguins have been a blessed franchise, that much is for sure.
