Saturday afternoon the Detroit Red Wings placed defenseman Jakub Kindl on waivers. Shortly thereafter I read the following tweet:

I decided to look into this further. I looked at each player's Score-Adjusted Fenwick, points per 60 in all situations, their, dCorsi, and their HERO charts. Here is what I found

Since Kindl's first full season his Score-Adjusted Fenwick has compared favorably to the other three Penguins defenders.

Once again Kindl's offense compares favorably to the Penguins three defenders.

Since his first full year in the league Kindl has consistently outperformed the role that he has been given.

His HERO chart looks decent as well.

Jakub Kindl makes 2.4M per season which will run through next year.

Jakub Kindl has demonstrated very good possession and some offense over the past few years. He might be the kind of player that the Penguins could target to shake things up.

If he clears waivers perhaps a trade involving Ian Cole and his 2.1M salary would make sense for both Pittsburgh and Detroit.

Thanks for reading!
