There are things in life bigger than hockey and the Pittsburgh Penguins players understand that. Instead of flying back to Pittsburgh immediately after their Arizona game they stopped off in Montreal to support a teammate in need.

Their travel plan was to immediately return to Pittsburgh, where they haven’t been since leaving for the Winter Classic on Dec. 31.

While the Penguins were on the Western swing of the road trip that took them through Las Vegas and Phoenix, some of the team’s veterans came together with the coaching staff to discuss a mutual desire to attend Fouquet’s funeral in Quebec.

Mike Sullivan was not only on board with the plan but was one of the people who spearheaded the decision.

Kris Letang has been dealt some really bad news this year with his most recent stroke and the passing of his father. He is currently out injured with a lower body injury. Nobody is immune from the negatives that stem from these types of events. Kris Letang is no exception. This was an incredible move by his teammates/family to try and lift someone who is hurting up. We would all be so lucky to have a team of empathetic teammates and coaches to surround ourselves with.
