The NHL is back! Sorta, almost, in a month or so. This much is certain the NHL regular season is over per Gary Bettman.

Gary Bettman says the 2019-20 regular season has been “deemed to be completed.” The record books are closed and award winners can be selected.

As far as starting the postseason that won’t be for a while. The NHL has things broken up into phases and training camp isn’t until phase 3. When is phase 3?

Training camps (Phase 3) not expected to happen any earlier than the first half of July.

This means a best case scenario we see games in August. Let me stress a best case scenario. I personally don’t feel very confident about everything going right.

Where are they going to play? It could be Pittsburgh.



Can Pittsburgh still be eligible for the draft lottery? Yes.

8 clubs eliminated in qualifying round will enter the draft lottery, so if the #Penguins lose to the #Canadiens in the play-in, Pens' first-rounder sent to #mnwild for Jason Zucker is lottery protected and could be deferred to 2021

For that to happen the Penguins would of course have to lose to the Montreal Canadiens, but them winning the lottery would be one of the funniest storylines to come out of this entire situation. It would be about time the Penguins caught a break. You could say the Price was right.
